Main objectives of Auda:

(1) To plan the development of continuously growing urban areas.

(2) To prepare the outline of the schemes for urban development and implement its final plan.

(3) To regulate the development as per the plan.

(4) To plan basic facilities like roads, drainage system, water supply.

Auda area includes 152 Gram Panchayats, Nagar Panchayats, Municipalities and Growth Centers. Auda's area of ​​operation covers a total area of ​​1295 sq. km., which also includes 190 sq. km. of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

All the proceedings of Auda are carried out by the Board, in accordance with its constitution. The Board of Directors of AUDA includes the Chairman-AUDA, Secretary - Urban Development Department, Secretary, Revenue Department, Chief Urban Planner of Gujarat State, Economic Advisor - Urban Development Department, Commissioner Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Collector - Ahmedabad District as well as elected members of District Panchayat, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Municipality and Gram Panchayat.
