Description

There are no words which could adequately describe what has happened to Gujarat on the historic day of 26th January, 2001. When the people of the State had just begun to celebrate 52nd Republic Day, an earthquake at the epicenter north-west of Bhuj and with 6.9 magnitude on Ritcher scale (this has been estimated by USA at 7.7 Ritcher scale) shook the State of Gujarat sending shock waves right upto Nepal in east, Chennai in south and J&K in north. This sudden major earthquake not only took the people of Gujarat by surprise but the entire country and the world came to know of this devastating experience
