Description

This work is the Gujarati translation/adaptation of the autobiographical novel “My Universities” written by Maxim Gorky, translated/edited in the Indian context by Anatoly Moiseyev and associated with Hasmukh Baradi.

The text describes Gorky’s early life struggles and his journey of self-education through real-life experiences rather than formal academic institutions. “My Universities” symbolizes that the real learning of life comes from hardship, society, and personal experiences.

The work highlights themes of poverty, social inequality, human struggle, and intellectual awakening. Gorky learns about society, human behavior, and life philosophy through direct experience, which becomes his true “university.”

Baradi’s presentation emphasizes the importance of literature as a tool for social awareness and personal growth. The translation helps connect Russian realist literature with Gujarati readers, showing universal human struggles and the value of experiential learning.

Thus, the work presents education as a lifelong process shaped by society, experience, and personal struggle rather than only formal schooling.
