BookMikhal Posokhin • 1980
Description
The town as both the oldest for and newest form of human settlement is being given in-creasingly more attention not only by architects, historians, geographers, economists and art historians but also by a wide range of people from varied pro-fessions. Every citizen is deeply concerned with the future devel- vo opment and prosperity of the town. The construction of new towns and development of existing ones is linked with the transformation of the environ-ment and reflects the dynamics and character of the social sys- in temGrowing urbanization, the in-creasing number of new towns, b resorts and industrial enter-prises everywhere, the im-proved exploitation of natural resources and the laying of communications are all rapidly expanding the scope of archi-tecture and intensifying the role played by the architect in organ-izing the environment and regulating man's living con-ditions. Environmental protec-tion and the rational use of natural resources are closely bound up with the cardinal problems of modern architec-ture and determine its direction.
