બાપુજી રિટાયર નાટક નિવૃત્તિ પછી એક વૃદ્ધ પિતાના જીવનમાં આવતા પરિવર્તનોને કેન્દ્રમાં રાખે છે. નોકરી દરમિયાન પરિવાર માટે સતત પરિશ્રમ કરનાર બાપુજી નિવૃત્તિ બાદ પોતાના જ ઘરમાં બદલાયેલા સંબંધો, નવી પેઢીની વિચારસરણી અને અવગણનાનો સામનો કરે છે. તેમની લાગણીઓ, સ્વાભિમાન અને પરિવાર પ્રત્યેની જવાબદારીઓ વચ્ચે સર્જાતો સંઘર્ષ નાટકનું મુખ્ય તત્ત્વ છે. પરિવારના સભ્યો ધીમે ધીમે બાપુજીના મહત્વને સમજે છે અને સંબંધોમાં સમજણ તથા લાગણીનું મૂલ્ય ઉજાગર થાય છે. નાટક વૃદ્ધાવસ્થા, પારિવારિક સંબંધો અને માનવીય સંવેદનાઓનો મર્મસ્પર્શી ચિતાર રજૂ કરે છે.
