Pravin Solanki

Pravin Solanki has written more than 170 full length commercial plays and it’s a world record by itself.\nThere were ten different shows held of his different plays in a single city in one day.\nThere were six different plays performed in a single city in one day.\nThere were 75 performances held in one month in a single city.\n \nPravin Solanki born on 5th April 1941, in a small village “Sankheda”of Una taluka of Junagadh district.\nHe accomplished his preliminary education in (Bombay)Mumbai. He used to go to watch Gujarati plays of Deshi Natak Samaj along with his father Ratilal Solanki.When he was in fourth standard his fist patriotic poetry was published in the kids section of Gujarati newspaper Janmabhoomi. He participated in one act play “Aavio Vanzaro, when he was in ninth standard. In the next year he wrote his first one act play “ Jaltu Jigar”( The burning heart) Then in the coming time he wrote his second one act play “ Vahale Didha Vish”( Love gave the poison) This one act play was enacted thousands of time by different groups at different places.\nHe made his team with actor –director Arvind Thakkar and duos won lots of inter-collegiate and inter bank drama competitions. After the formal education he took up the job in Bank of India and and used all his spare time in writing hundreds of Gujarati plays.\nHis first commercial play was “Koi Ni Aankh Ma Saap Rame”. This was suspense thriller and was very well received by the audience. Then onwards Pravin Solanki has not look back and has contributed more then 170 plays to the Gujarati stage.\nPravin Solanki has written ten Gujarati movies and has penned more than 12 TV Serials too.\nHis three collections of dramas namely “Vijeta”, “Aanu Naam Natak” and Diwaal Vagarnu Ghar have been published.\nPravin Solanki is also a poet and his two collections of gazalas “Ujaagra” and “Dhabkar” have also been published.\nPravin Solanki is nurturing one dream from long time. The dream is to make mega musical play having 70-75 artists. He feels that one day his dream will come true to stage extravagant Guajarati musical play of international level. At the age of 70, Pravin Solanki is busy writing couple Guajarati Plays. He is also associated as coordinator with Bhavan’s Cultural Centre’s coffee house.
