Description

Ilya Ehrenburg’s “Julio Jurenito”, written in 1921, was inspired by the horrors of the First World War. Through satire, Ehrenburg criticizes war, racism, nationalism, capitalism, fascism, greed, and hypocrisy. The novel also reflects the Russian Revolution and Civil War.
Ehrenburg was a strong anti-fascist and peace advocate and received the International Lenin Peace Prize in 1952. His memoir “People, Years, Life” (1961) recalls his life, historical experiences, and his deep love for Russia, its people, culture, and landscapes.
