Description

In his celebrated multi-volume memoirs *People, Years, Life*, Soviet
writer and journalist Ilya Ehrenburg reflects deeply on his friendship
and interactions with Ernest Hemingway during the Spanish Civil War in
the late 1930s. Ehrenburg presents Hemingway not merely as a famous
American novelist, but as a passionate, brave, and complex figure
deeply moved by Spain's struggle for freedom.

Meeting in war-torn Madrid, they shared profound conversations on
literature, courage, and human destiny amidst the harsh realities of
combat—bridging political and cultural divides through a shared devotion
to art and humanity.
