Description
One of the two Epigraphs in stone at Hutheesing Jain Temple. The Foundation Inscription in Sanskrit reads:
"While the English Company ruled over the city of Ahmedabad, there flourished Saha Nihalacandra, born in the Guru branch of the Ukkesa lineage. His son was Saha Khussalacandra whose wife was Manaka. Their son was Sri Kesarisimha. His wife was Surya (Suraj). She gave birth to Sresthi Saha Hathisimbha. Fortunately, he earned much wealth, which he enjoyed and bestowed with his own hand.
He founded a vatika (Wadi) in the north in the vicinity of Ahammadavada (Ahmedabad), wherein he built a big new Jinendra-caitya, shrine to Jinendra, consisting of three storeys, two mandapas, halls, three sikharas, superstructures with a curvilinear spire, and 52 devakuli…
