Description

N adezhda Nadezhdina's family had spent their summer holidays on the pictures-que bank of the Kama River not far from the town of Perm. There were several villages in the district, beyond which stretch-ed a forest where they went for berries. On the way to the forest the girl sometimes came upon village festivals and dances. She was particularly fond of the traditional Whitsun holidays when the peasant girls in bright national costumes danced round the white-trunked birches.
