Description

In March 1996, the Government of Gujarat notified the Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority covering an area of about 400 sq. km. The Authority has been constituted under the Gujarat Town Planning and Urban Development Act, 1976. The area includes the capital city of Gandhinagar and 39 adjoining villages. As a first step, the Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority has undertaken the preparation of the Draft Development Plan. A planning team has been created under the leadership of Mr. M. M. Bhowmick, Senior Town Planner, GUDA with technical assistance from Environmental Planning Collaborative (EPC), a not-for-profit urban planning and management consultancy firm based in Ahmedabad.
